AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

Aftercare of your new tattoo

Saniderm: With clean hands, remove bandage after 24 hours. This is to done in a clean environment or in the shower. If plastic wrap is used, remove in 2-3 hours and then proceed to the next step.

Remove bandage gently. It may appear that some color is coming off and sticking to the bandage. This is normal and is simply excess ink, blood, and plasma.. If the bandage sticks, you may use warm water to help to remove it.

After removing the bandage fully, cleanse the area with antibacterial soap and water. Use your fingertips to gently rub the tattoo while soapy to remove any plasma and blood. Do not scrub the tattoo or surrounding area. do not use a washcloth, loofah, or sponge.

Pat dry with a clean and dry paper towel Let the tattoo fully air dry approximately 10 minutes

Apply a very thin layer of ointment to the tattoo. You may use the ointment purchased at the shop, but you may also use Aquaphor. Blot off any excess ointment with a dry paper towel. Applying too much ointment may cause "wet scabs" or break outs in the area, and the tattoo will not heal properly

Do Not reapply any bandages to the tattoo. Continue to clean the tattoo followed by immediately applying ointment for 3days. In this time ,apply ointment for 3-4 times a day You want to be sure it does not completely dry out, without over applying too much ointment.

After several days the tattoo will begin to peel. Stop using the aquaphor ointment and switch to a fragrance free moisturizer such as Lubriderm. You may apply Lubriderm as often as needed.

It is common fo the tattoo to become itchy. DO NOT SCRATCH IT. If it is itchy, apply lotion and gently pat the area to soothe. Picking off any excess scabs or flakey skin can damage the tattoo and the surrouding skin area so DO NOT DO IT.

It generally takes two weeks for a tattoo to fully heal, but in some instances it can be longer, up to 5 weeks. You must avoid sun exposure, pools, saunas, hot tubs, ocean or lake water, baths where the tattoo is submerged, for 2 weeks.

If your tattoo is on your legs or foot, avoid pedicures for 2 weeks, as well as shaving over the area.

Sun exposure can damage your tattoo. Be sure to use a high SPF when outdoors.

DO NOT USE

Neosporin Bacitracin, or any other type of medicated ointments.

Gauze

lodine, Peroxide, or any alcohol based products, cocoa butter, coconut oil, vaseline, or any petroleum jelly

What to look out for with your tattoo

after the initial tattoo process, some minimal swelling, redness or discomfort is normal around the tattoo site.

However, if you experience any of the following symptoms, please contact a health care provider immedeatly, as well as contacting the shop with updates.

Excessive bleeding,

Excessive pain/discomfort

Excessive swellinng

Excessive redness, or an area that is hot to the touch.

Breakouts, pimples, puss, legions, sores,
